Adult Education: Carol Pasternack,
Chair
Along with the Rabbi and Director of Education, this committee determines
policies and procedures for adult education; participates in budget
preparation; sets the direction for and participates in the selection of
programs and classes; and coordinates the implementation of all adult education
programs.
Arts & Architecture: Shari Childs, Chair
Building: Dan Rothschild, Trustee
The Building Committee oversees the care, maintenance, and repair of the
buildings, grounds, and parking lot; is responsible for future planning which
will make the building a better place for worship and other synagogue-related
activities (including remodeling, landscaping, and general beautification of
the site), and supervises the caretaker and gardeners.
Caring Community: Alan Levy,
Chair
The Caring Community, in conjunction with the Rabbi and Cantor, is
responsible for the coordination of synagogue activities to meet the personal
needs of congregants in illness, bereavement, and celebration. Provides needed
services for congregants, including, but not limited to, help at shiva minyanim, follow-up with
family members of deceased, a bereavement support group, visitation of hospital
patients and appropriate follow-up, and visitation of shut-ins.

Fundraising Events: Liza Presser-Belkin, Trustee
The committee plans and implements programs to raise
money for the Temple's operating budget.
Greening Committee: Danny Briere, Chair
This committee provides help in making the Temple more energy efficient, as well as providing congregants with tips to make their homes more eco-friendly.
Havurot: Hallie Avolio, Chair
This committee provides information to members wishing to form havurot; encourages members to join a havurah;
and keeps track of existing havurot and havurot members.
Interfaith Family Outreach: Ann Pieramici, Trustee
Members of this committee organize programming for the specific needs of
interfaith couples, other members of their extended families, those interested
in conversion to Judaism, and Jews-by-Choice.
Landscape Committee: Murray Welkowsky, Chair
Members of this committee plan and implement landscaping projects at the Temple.
Leadership & Governance: David Landecker, Chair
Membership: Randy Glick, VP
The membership committee initiates and coordinates all
activities relating to recruiting and retaining Temple members, including an
open house, New Member Shabbat Dinner and Service, bagel brunch, and other
social activities.
Music: Melodie
Nelson, Chair
The Music Committee is a support system for all things musical in the life of
our congregation. Brainstorming ideas, planning programs, creating publicity,
selling tickets, organizing concerts, donating good food for post-concert
receptions, and enjoying the fruits of their labor are some of the things that
this committee does.
Personnel Practices: Marilyn Weixel, Chair
This committee focuses on personnel management and related areas within the
Temple administration. It develops new personnel policies and practices and
recommends their incorporation into the Personnel Code, report to the President
and Board on current personnel situations, actions taken, policy issues
requiring decision-making by others, and problem situations not yet resolved.
Planned Giving: Michael O'Kelley & Lee
Silverman, Chairs
Plans and implements programs for acquiring and expanding the Temple’s
Endowment Fund.
Preschool: Nancy
Sheldon, Trustee
Working with the Rabbi, Director of Education, and the Preschool Director, this
committee sets educational philosophy and direction of the preschool in
response to the needs and desires of the congregation and sound early childhood
and Jewish educational practice; determines policies and procedures for the
preschool; coordinates parent/congregant volunteers; participates in budget
preparation; and sets the direction for curriculum selection, development, and
implementation.
Recognition: Aaron Ettenberg, Chair
Religious School: Kamila Storr, Trustee
The committee, in conjunction with the Rabbi and
Director of Education, is responsible for all activities of the Religious
School (K-10) and Hebrew School.
Religious Practices: Allan Morton, Trustee
The committee, in conjunction with the Rabbi and
Cantor, is responsible for the coordination of overall direction for religious
and ritual practice at the Temple. The committee coordinates the selection of
candle lighters for Shabbat services;
coordinates the selection of honors (aliyot, readers,
etc.) for High Holy Day services; and is responsible for the conducting of Shabbat
and holiday services in the absence of clergy.
Social Action: Elizabeth
Gaynes, Trustee
This committee identifies, plans, and implements social action projects, in
conjunction with the Rabbi.
Youth Activities: Laurie Greene, Trustee
In conjunction with the Rabbi, Director of Education, and Youth Group Advisor, sets philosophy and direction of youth activities in response to the needs and desires of the congregation and sound Jewish youth practice; determines policies and procedures for the Temple youth groups; coordinates parent/congregant volunteers for youth programs; and participates in budget preparation for youth programs.
