Next Lodge Dinner Meeting:
B’nai B’rith International
Founded in 1843, B’nai B’rith International, the world’s largest Jewish Service organization unites the Jewish community in dedication to the betterment of the Jewish people, strengthening Israel, and the preservation of Jewish life and learning around the world. Membership is open to Jewish men and women.
Santa Barbara Lodge #1302 was formed in 1966. Monthly dinner meetings (the 4th Thursday) have brought social, educational, and cultural programs as well as opportunities to the local Jewish community. B’nai B’rith is the founder of the Anti-Defamation League and continues in their support to this day. Fund raising efforts provide help for Shabbat dinners at Hillel, Mitzvah Day, Israel Independence Day, and other such events. The Lodge administers the Raphael Cohen Scholarship Fund providing grants to worthy Jewish students in Santa Barbara.
Annual dues of $100 go primarily to B’nai B’rith International. So, all local philanthropic efforts are funded by local community members via advertising in our newsletter, sponsoring a monthly dinner, attending meetings, or just writing a check.
The motto of B’nai B’rith is “Benevolence, Brotherly Love, and Harmony”. We try very hard to live up to and achieve these goals.
