  From The Clergy

Rabbi StoneThere is no doubt that these past two weeks have been quite remarkable. From the turmoil in the Middle East to some of the most unprecedented Supreme Court decisions in recent history—this summer feels different. While things are supposed to be quieter during this time of year, the world seems to be heating up in a significant way.

And yet, my story begins tonight over ten years ago. I was starting to get annoyed. When I went off to college—to the East Coast—my best friend went off to college to the West Coast. In fact, we even became the first girls to play on our little league baseball team. When it came to my bat mitzvah, she was my saving grace because she taught me most of my aliyot about three days before the big day.

She was my best friend and we were like sisters. So after trying so hard to stay in contact with her—I finally just let it go. That was until one day in my sophomore or junior year, we were home for the summer and she said—“we have to talk.” Continue Reading...
