  From the Rabbi

Rabbi Cohen
There are so many beautiful and fascinating countries in the world, and I wish I could visit them all.  So why do I go to Israel every chance I get?  It’s because Judaism is not merely a religion, but a 4,000 year old civilization, and Israel is where I find that civilization vibrantly alive and striving.  The children shout to each other on the playground in Hebrew.  The people live by Jewish time (this week, for example, tens of thousands of sukkahs will appear on rooftops and balconies throughout the country).  And the entire country is bound together by Jewish memory and a sense of common destiny.
I hope you will consider joining me next June on our CBB Congregational Trip to Israel.  The first informational and organizing meeting is next Tuesday, September 24 at 6PM in the CBB sukkah.  Even if you are just curious, come and learn more.  And bring your own dinner!

CBB - Did you know...

Over 1200 individuals attended services.  Between 300 and 650 people at each service.
We welcomed over 200 guests from Santa Barbara and other communities.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our community worship experience and helped to make it warm and welcoming for all.
Our temple was full, the parking worked, transitions between early and late services went smoothly and hardly anyone asked us to change the room temperature.:)

If you were a guest or you brought a guest we would love to hear about your/their experience.  How are we doing? Let us know. Please send an email or call Elizabeth 964-7869 x111.

You can read Rabbi Cohen's and Rabbi Stone's sermons from The High Holy Days here.
