  From the Rabbi

I'm worried about the unusual confluence of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah this year.  It's hard to feel the usual mixture of memory and anticipation, because this has never happened before!  Memory is no help this year, so we have to rely completely on our imagination to create the magic of Thanksgivukah.  To assist you I would like to recommend a superb resource---this issue of Jewish Family Times, a nationally respected publication created by CBB member Nina Gelman-Gans.
Click here to open the Jewish Family Times, and take a few minutes to read through it; it is PACKED with interesting material and ideas which might really help you to create a magical Thanksgivukah, which you and your children will remember for years!

CBB - Did you know...

You can have your latkes and eat turkey, too, with special Thanksgivukkah recipes such as pumpkin latkes, (gluten-free!) sweet potato sufganiyot, and more. More recipes.

Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone who has been affected Typhoon Haiyan, which has wrought widespread destruction in the Philippines. With an estimated four million people displaced and over 5200 feared dead, we encourage you to support the relief effort in any way possible. As our tradition teaches, "Saving one life is like saving the world." Please consider donating through The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) General Disaster Relief Fund. They collect donations that will be distributed to aid groups working with those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Click on the link to make a donation and learn more.
